They push forward for leading the state in green energy efforts. It's no surprise Elk River's branding led us to claim they were "Powered By Nature." But their implementation of the project is what gave their branding the most power.
Perhaps the biggest lesson from Elk River is the value of enthusiasm and collaboration. Within days of the community roll-out and ‘train-the-trainer’ workshops, Elk River had secured commitments from seven private and public sector organizations that agreed to incorporate the brand in a variety of high profile ways. Their brand's micro-site and blog was up and running, a new economic development website was also well underway, City publications were re-branded and community organizations began employing variations of the brand theme to express their connection. They learned quickly that community branding is everyone's job. And they're still going strong.
